1. Introduction

LinguaChat ("we", "our", "us") is a real-time translated messaging application operated by Navitech. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our mobile apps (Android, iOS) and web application.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Account Information

  • Phone number — required for account creation and authentication (E.164 format)
  • Display name — set by you, visible to your contacts
  • Password — stored securely using bcrypt hashing; we never store or see your plain-text password

2.2 Messages and Content

  • Chat messages — text messages sent and received within the app
  • Photos and videos — media attachments you choose to send (images up to 16MB, videos up to 100MB)
  • Files — documents you choose to share (PDF, Word, Excel, etc.)

2.3 Technical Data

  • Device tokens — for push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android, APNs on iOS, Web Push on web)
  • Encryption keys — end-to-end encryption (E2EE) public keys for secure messaging
  • Subscription and purchase data — in-app purchase records for subscription management

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Providing the service — delivering messages, storing conversations, and managing your account
  • Translation — when AI translation is enabled, message text is sent to OpenRouter (third-party API) for translation. You can disable this in Settings under "AI Translation"
  • Push notifications — notifying you of new messages
  • Subscription management — processing and verifying in-app purchases via Google Play Billing and Apple In-App Purchases

4. Third-Party Services

We share data with the following third parties only as necessary to provide the service:

  • OpenRouter — receives message text for AI-powered translation (only when AI Translation is enabled by you)
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — receives device tokens for Android push notifications
  • Apple Push Notification service — receives device tokens for iOS push notifications
  • Google Play / Apple App Store — purchase verification for subscriptions

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

5. Data Security

  • All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS
  • End-to-end encryption (E2EE) is available for messages using the Signal Protocol (X25519 key exchange, AES-256-GCM)
  • Passwords are hashed using bcrypt
  • Authentication tokens are stored securely (httpOnly cookies for web, Keychain on iOS, EncryptedSharedPreferences on Android)

6. Data Retention

Your data is stored for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted, including:

  • Your profile and phone number
  • All messages and conversations
  • Contact list
  • Encryption keys
  • Subscription and purchase history
  • Push notification settings and device tokens
  • Uploaded photos, videos, and files

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data via the Settings screen in the app
  • Update your display name and language preferences at any time
  • Delete your account and all associated data via Settings > Delete Account, or by visiting linguachat.navitech.cloud/account/delete
  • Opt out of AI translation by disabling it in Settings

8. Children's Privacy

LinguaChat is not intended for children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date above.
